Every saxophone we assess gets a rating out of 5 stars, calculated from a proprietary grid of five criteria. It isn’t an average of opinions scraped online: it’s the result of a structured evaluation combining manufacturer specifications, the field experience of saxophonists and our own expertise.
Our five criteria

The overall score is the weighted sum of these five criteria, rounded to one decimal and shown in stars.
Our sources
Our assessments rest on three pillars: the official technical specifications from manufacturers, the synthesis of saxophonists’ feedback (specialist forums and communities — always reworded, never reproduced), and our own experience of wind instruments.
When the available data isn’t enough to assess a criterion reliably, we’d rather give no score than an unfounded figure.
